Submission Guidelines
In a short time, Spielboy has established itself as a source of interesting and funny content that is unique in the Eurogame marketplace. We would like to keep it that way. As a result, here are some basic submission guidelines that you should look over before sending us unsolicited submissions.
Types of submissions
- Feature articles - Well researched, informative features are always accepted. However, you should email the editor with an outline of the idea first. Same goes for What the Hell is...
- Editorials - No, I am not looking for the next Dan Bosley. Unless you have a unique perspective or are an incredibly good writer, I cannot use columns or editorials.
- Reviews - Spielboy does not publish game reviews. Too many other sites do that already, and I don't want to add to the clutter.
- Chits & Ass - Spielboy happily accepts brief news articles for the Chits & Ass department.
- Artwork & photos - Always accepted, but Spielboy cannot promise it will be used.
- Lists - I love lists. If you have an interesting, euro-game-related list, send it to me. No, please no Top 10 lists.
General Guidelines
- Spielboy can usually provide images, sidebars, or inline graphics for your articles.
- The use of pseudonyms is not encouraged.
- Article length should reflect the subject matter. In general, Feature articles should be at least 750 words.
- Spielboy does not pay its writers, but you might get a hummer. No, you won't get a Dirty Sanchez.
- Ownership of articles submitted to Spielboy becomes Spielboy's, unless you wanna work some other kind of deal.
Feature Games
The Spielboy Game Girl pictorial features games in each issue. I want to concentrate on smaller publishers, to give them exposure that they might not ordinarily get.
If you are a small publisher and want one of your games to appear in a Spielboy pictorial, contact the editor. Please do not send unsolicited games to Spielboy, as I cannot guarantee that they will be used, played, or thrown away like so much garbage.
